First of all, what is an intimate wedding?
An intimate wedding has a guest list under 75 and basically has everything a “typical” larger-scaled wedding would have, just with fewer guests. Intimate weddings are seen as kind of a middle ground between a huge elaborate wedding and an elopement: you still get to spend the day with the most important people in your life, and you still get the venue, the flowers, the cake, and the wedding photographer.
Why should I have an intimate wedding?
There’s a reason they’re called “intimate”…. It’s just you and your closest friends and family, which means your wedding day will be much more emotional, and you’ll get a chance to share a moment with all of your attendees. With a shorter guest list (and much fewer mouths to feed), you’ll also have more room in your budget to spend on an incredible venue that may only cater to smaller events or that cake that you thought was just a little too pricey. Plus, you and your soon-to-be spouse are sure to be the center of attention at all times.
Why I love capturing intimate weddings
To me, weddings are all about the story behind the couple, and your family and friends help tell that story. At an intimate wedding, I capture beautiful moments of you and your partner, but I also get to witness those you love the most enjoy YOUR love, and make those memories into photos you can cherish forever. I can also spend much more time photographing the little touches you worked so hard on perfecting like the centerpieces, the live band you wanted, or the bouquets your bridal party carried. Just because an intimate wedding is smaller doesn’t mean it won’t be filled with special moments to capture and as a wedding photographer, I am able to fully take my time and capture the memorable moments that will mean the most to you… because intimate weddings are truly all about the couple. Don’t get me wrong bigger weddings are, too, but with a smaller crowd, you can spend more time with your partner instead of feeling obligated to cater to all your guests. We also have more time to explore the venue, and I have an opportunity to get to know you and your guests much better to make sure every photo I take tells your story.
Where can I have an intimate wedding?
While there really is no limit to the spaces you can book for an intimate wedding, here are some of my favorite venues to photograph:
- Outdoor Venues like farms and vineyards
- Breweries
- A small church
- City Hall
- A Restaurant (All decked out for your wedding)
- Your backyard!
No matter the size of your wedding, your wedding day will be a cause for celebration, spent with the people you hold closest to your heart, and that is a wedding photographer’s dream! You make it easier on me when you relax and get to enjoy your day, so if having an intimate wedding is what it takes to make you smile – then I’ll be there to capture it!
